Mercedes GP to Announce Major Sponsor Soon

Mercedes Grand Prix is believed to secure a new sponsorship deal prior to the season opening round of the 2010 Formula One championship. And it won't be a small sponsor either, as the German media revealed a major agreement is about to be announced officially within the next few days.

According to German sport business publication “Sponsors”, the new partners of Mercedes GP is a German multinational company that has never been part of Formula One in the past.

However, following the first few laps concluded by race driver Nico Rosberg on the Circuit de Catalunya earlier today, the car's livery for the 2010 season is yet to feature the logos of a new sponsor. According to the aforementioned source, the new sponsorship was secured as a result of 7-time world champion Michael Schumacher returning to the series in 2010.

Consequently, we might suspect that the new sponsor will be retained by the German team for the upcoming 3 years, as Schu's deal with Mercedes-Benz is valid until the end of 2012.

Mercedes GP has so far secured the major sponsorship of Malaysian oil company Petronas for the upcoming few years. Following their commitment with BMW Sauber F1 in recent seasons, the aforementioned company switched their financing scheme towards Brackley, becoming Mercedes' new title sponsor in Formula One.

Earlier this month, we have reported to you that Michael Schumacher also secured a couple of sponsorship deals for the 2010 season of F1, namely fashion labels Jet Set and Navyboot.
