Mercedes-Benz has just announced the official UK pricing information for the refreshed GL-Class SUV. The range kicks off at £59,465, and for that you get the GL350 AMG Sport, which features Mercedes’ tried and true three-liter diesel engine, with 245 hp - it pushes this rather large SUV from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 7.9 seconds, and offers a 15% improvement in its fuel efficiency, achieving a combined figure of 35.3 mpg.
The only other model available is located at the other end of the range - the GL63 AMG, which is so quick it’s scary. With 549 hp on tap, it catapults the GL from 0-100 km/h in a tenth below five seconds, however, sprinting in this car, in a vigorous way will undoubtedly affect its already poor fuel efficiency rating of 23 mpg - it may even go into the single digits.
The GL63 costs £91,860, yet it comes loaded with kit, which includes an AMG steering wheel with paddles, heated and cooled electrically-operated front seats with a massage function. This is extra, over what you get in the GL350, which is also very generously equipped, with LED DRLs, self-parking, 21-inch rims and digital radio.
