Mercedes Extends CPO Limited Warranty

In an attempt to boost the appeal of the vehicle it sells through the Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles program, German manufacturer Mercedes Benz announced it is extending the limited warranty of these vehicles, starting this month.

Buyers will receive additional mileage coverage for both the one- and two-year warranty packages, with the one-year one to cover 120,000 miles (an extra 20,000 miles compared to the previous offer) and the two-year one 135,000 miles, or an extra 35,000 miles.

The news of the extended warranty coverage could mean great news for the customers in the market for older Benzes. As one of the best built vehicles in the world, Mercedes-badged cars are among the few who manage to retain most of their value over time.

According to the auto maker, more than 70 percent of the Mercedes vehicles sold since 1954 are still on the road. Unfortunately, cars older than six years are usually not part of the Certified Pre-Owned offer. At the same time, this is in fact good news, as we all know older Benzes sell better at auctions than from an used-car dealer's parking lot.

"With each Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz comes peace of mind, because each vehicle is backed by one of the most comprehensive pre-owned vehicle limited warranties available,"
stated Scott Penza, department manager for pre-owned operations at Mercedes Benz USA.

"A Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz is much more than a 'used' car; it's a pre-owned vehicle built by a company famous for its engineering technology and commitment to safety, quality and reliability."
