The Austrian Automobile Association (ARBO) designated Mercedes Benz's new E-Klasse the 2009 Car of the Year, the most sought after award on the local market. The E-Klasse got the award after it scored 177 points of 195.
In the Austrian version of this type of awards, cars are being judge based on technical perfection, design, economy, reliability, safety, eco-friendliness and value for money. Of course, the awards include several categories and the E-Klasse managed to get the title in its premium category.
"Impressive attributes of the E-Class include its dynamic design, innovative technology, exemplary comfort, outstanding safety and economy, Daimler says in a release. What's more, the E-Class offers outstanding long-distance comfort."
So far, the E-Klasse managed to gather several awards, including Auto Zeitung's Auto Trophy 2009 for best luxury saloon, Auto Bild's Design Award 2009 for the world's most beautiful car (!), the EuroCarBody Award 2009 and, of course, the Diners Club Magazine Award for the "best power-to-economy" ratio.
To put an end to what the E-Klasse managed to do so far, market research institute Bahr & Fess Forecast deemed the E-Klasse as the car which will have the highest value retention of any luxury segment model series, with the highest resale value after three years for all of the body styles.
The E-Klasse also competes in the 2010 European Car of the Year awards, where it entered the final seven together with the Citroen C3 Picasso, the Opel/Vauxhall Astra, the Peugeot 3008, the Skoda Yeti, the Toyota iQ and the Volkswagen Polo.
