With tons of spyshots circulating on the web from some time now, the new E-Klasse Wagon in all its glory adds little to what it is already known. Yet, with the official release of the first photo, those still in doubt about the possible arrival of the wagon should stay reassured.
With a stance reminiscent of Mercedes' shooting brake concept, the new E-Klasse wagon has still a lot to reveal. Yet, rumors already exist regarding possible powertrains, release date and even price.
According to autobild.de, the wagon E-Klasse will make use of five engines, both petrol and diesel. The petrol units are supposed to be the 292 hp and 388 units, with diesel engines ranging in terms of power in between 170 and 230 hp.
Design and functionality wise, the E-Klasse wagon will make use of automated tail gate and cargo cover, with a cargo capacity of around 1,950l. The new E-Klasse will use already available technology such as air suspension, active head restraints, seatbelt pretensioners, and nine airbags.
As for release date, nothing is sure at this point. In late May, reports surfaced that the new E-Klasse wagon, as well as the convertible, will no longer be unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September.
Yet, with the Frankfurt event still one month and a half away and the E-Klasse already developed, it is hard to believe Mercedes won't officially present the E-Klasse wagon. When released onto the market, the new wagon is expected to range somewhere in between 55,000 and 70,000 euros.
