Mercedes-Benz sure has a lot to celebrate this year, from soaring sales in every market to a downright dominant season in almost every racing series it competed in during 2015.
To that effect, the luxury carmaker will debut an all-new version of its annual Stars and Cars event in the Mercedes-Benz Arena Stuttgart on December 12. The main idea behind the new version is to celebrate this year's racing successes with an in-house competition, very similar to the Race of Champions.

In fact, it's not every day that Mercedes-Benz can brag about winning so many racing trophies in a single motorsport season, but 2015 seems to have shattered all previous records, including the fantastic 1954 and 1955 F1 seasons or its pre-war Grand Prix racing successes from the 1930s.

Not only did Lewis Hamilton snatch his third F1 Drivers' Championship driving a three-pointed star single-seater but Mercedes-Benz also won the F1 Constructors' Championship with four races to go until the end of the season.

The 2015 DTM season didn't go as smoothly, but the Stuttgart carmaker did manage to take both the Drivers' and Team Championship titles this year, with gooix Mercedes-AMG driver Pascal Wehrlein becoming the youngest DTM champion in the history of the series.

For this year’s Stars & Cars, we’ve taken what was already there and extended the format to include new elements like real racing and interactive components for fans. Mercedes has enjoyed a very special year on the track in every single race series – and now we want to give something special back to our fans, right in the heart of Stuttgart. Mercedes-Benz has the largest motorsport presence of any brand in digital media and we want to actively involve our fans in Stars & Cars through these channels,” said Toto Wolff, Mercedes-Benz Head of Motorsport.

Racing Events

Held in a stadium for the first time, Stars and Cars 2015 will feature a competition between 16 Mercedes-Benz racing drivers, following a somewhat similar format to the better-known Race of Champions.

No less than 15 races and five specific fixtures will take place on a specially constructed track inside the Mercedes-Benz Arena Stuttgart. The driver lineup will obviously include Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, along with DTM drivers Pascal Wehrlein, Paul Di Resta, Gary Paffet, Robert Wickens, Christian Vietoris, Daniel Juncadella, Maximillian Gotz, and Lucas Auer.

Starting with identical Mercedes-AMG A45 models, the remaining drivers will then switch to the Mercedes-AMG C63 S in the quarter-finals and the Mercedes-AMG GT S in the semi-finals. The finals will see two remaining drivers battle it out using the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.
