The seats in our the Mercedes S63 AMG 4Matic tester have already become our best friends. As on many other occasions, these can be used to draw a conclusion on the entire car.
Compared to the accommodation in the Mercedes-Benz S550 (S500 Long for folks over in Europe), the AMG offers comparable comfort. Nevertheless, this is doubled with a much better position as far as the driver is concerned, so we’d choose the boosted version any day.
Likewise, the S63 AMG doesn’t take a toll in coziness for all the extra oomph it provides. The 4Matic model does away with the Magic Body Control, so the ride and handling are all AMG’s merit.
Of course, the best bit of the car is the engine and we’re only going to mention its 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) for the moment. Oh and you’ll feel the V8’s power starting from somewhere around 2,000 rpm.
We’re on a twisty section of the road now and the gripe we’ve had with the S500 is back, albeit in a more delicate manner. The car has some sort of unusual effect on us, with nausea appearing much quicker than expected. If this all sounds strange it’s because, well... it is strange and we’ll go into the depths of it in our Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 4Matic test drive.
