Mercedes-Benz's Hungarian Plant Running at Full Steam

The Stuttgart brand's first ever european production plant outside Germany has been running almost continuously this year, since it's one of the currently just two pillars of assembly for the highly successful compact class cars in the Mercedes-Benz lineup.

Situated in Kecskemét, the Hungarian plant is part of a soon to be expanded production network for cars built on the Mercedes-Benz MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform.

The plant was opened in March 2012 and at first shared the manufacture of the current B-Class W246 with the German plant in Rastatt. Since January 2013, Kecskemét is also the only location in the world where the Mercedes-Benz CLA is built - along its B-Class platform brother.

“Especially with the CLA, for which this site has global production responsibility, the Kecskemét plant is making a decisive contribution to our growth with new customers and in new markets along the Mercedes-Benz 2020 growth strategy. Every single vehicle from this plant proves what we mean when we talk about Mercedes-Benz quality.” said Andreas Renschler, Member of the Daimler Board of Management responsible for Manufacturing and Procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars & Mercedes-Benz Vans in a visit at the Hungarian plant.

Currently, over 3000 people are working for Mercedes-Benz in Kecskemét, making the three-pointed star plant the most attractive employer in the Hungarian region where it's based.
