Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet will mark the return of the open-top luxury limousines from the Stuttgart brand, after a 44-year long hiatus.
The new S-Class Cabriolet will share the spotlight at the upcoming International Frankfurt Motor Show with the recently revealed Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe. Since they are two very different cars, there shouldn't be any stepping on the toes inside the Mercedes-Benz stand, though.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet is all about comfort and refinement. The company claims the new car will set the standard for this very rarefied segment in terms of comfort and features, and based on the rest of the S-Class range, they every right to make this claim.

With a topless car, comfort isn't restricted solely to dampening road imperfections, but also extends to climate control. The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe will feature the AIRCAP wind protection system, the AIRSCARF neck-level heating system, heated armrests, heated rear seats plus an intelligent fully-automatic climate control system. These features ensure the owners can enjoy open-top driving for a much wider period of the year and in more parts of the world.

Mercedes-Benz has launched this light teaser you see here before the official launch and is insisting heavily on the car's heritage. Back in 1961, the first open-top car to bear the 'S' name was born. It was called the 220 SE Cabriolet, but it wasn't in anyway the first Mercedes-Benz four-seater cabriolet. The company was building them as far back as the '20s.

Since we have numerous ways of accurately guessing what the car will look like, Mercedes-Benz isn't insisting too much on the exterior design. In fact, there's very little actual information about the car, and if they did tell us anything, it would have been redundant. Instead, Mercedes-Benz is trying to maintain interest at a high level before the official launch in September, and linking the new model with its classic cars is a good move. It gives the new model a solid background and cancels the 44-year absence of a similar type of car.
