As far as recalls go, we thought this one would take the cake, but sadly, it has been surpassed by a recall for gasoline, if you can believe that. Mercedes-Benz will be recalling some 11,500 G-Class and M-Class SUVs, produced between July 2011 and July 2012, due to an issue with their rubber floor mats.
Apparently, the mats can get jammed under the throttle pedal, jamming it. Now, despite the fact that no incidents have yet to be reported, it’s good that Mercedes initiated the recall when they did, because this seemingly minor problem could spell disaster when the driver least expects it.

Of the 11,500 units, 8,700 are from the US, while the remainder of 2,800 units were sold in Germany. Furthermore, some 300 G-Class cars from China and Germany are also being recalled, but due to a separate issue, this time. Some cars built between September 2010 and April 2011 may have issues with passenger airbags and these will probably be fixed with a software update.
