The German manufacturer managed to sell no less than 108,417 last month, representing the best August month in the company's history from this point of view.
Mercedes-Benz also increased their year-to-date sales by 9.3%, reaching an all time high of 919,644 vehicles and thus becoming the fastest growing premium brand on almost all markets. The strong 18.7% sales increase in August happened primarily thanks to the E-Class facelift, which had a sales plus of 29.9% by itself.
“We again posted double-digit growth with over 18 percent in August and are thus continuing on our growth course for the second half of the year, in which we want to grow more strongly than in the first”, said Dr Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing Mercedes-Benz Cars, soon to be replaced by Ola Källenius. “The offensive in the compact car and luxury segment continues: We have launched the new S-Class in Europe successfully and will already be starting production of the GLA at the end of the year.”
Almost all European markets saw double-digit growth rates and market shares, while the Stuttgart manufacturer continued to be the most registered premium brand since the beginning of the year in markets like Germany, the United States and Japan.
