With sales of 694,433 vehicles (+6.4%) in the first half of 2013, an all-time record in its own right, the German manufacturer has just announced another one for the history books.
More than 700,000 passenger cars have rolled off all Mercedes-Benz production lines in the first six months of the current year, which is more than they have ever built in a similar time span.
“We are planning for further growth. With an attractive offering of models and higher flexibility in production, we managed to build more vehicles in the first half of the year than ever before. We are also very optimistic for the year as a whole”, said Andreas Renschler, Management Board Member of Daimler AG responsible for Manufacturing and Procurement, Mercedes-Benz Cars & Mercedes-Benz Vans – also known as the man with one of the longest job names in the world.
The previous production record was achieved for the whole of 2012, when more than 1.34 million vehicles wearing the three-pointed star were manufactured. The German company wants to build and sell over 1.4 million cars by the end of the current year, which will obviously translate into another all-time record.
