The facelift for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class model lineup is probably the costliest one in automotive history, but was it enough to impress the Brits at WhatCar?
From the currently four body types available (even though the E-Coupe and Cabrio aren't based on the W212 sedan platform), WhatCar decided to make a short video of their E-Class Estate test drive.

They noted as a pretty important feature how the very different suspension set-ups can help completely change the car's character depending on the engine model. The best are obviously the air-suspension models, but the cost goes quite a good way upwards for an already rather pricey executive wagon.

The wide range of engines can bring make an E-Class Estate pleasurable to almost any type of driver or family, but WhatCar reckons that the E 350 CDI diesel might be the best pick of the lineup, thanks to its smooth power delivery, class-leading torque figures and a low fuel consumption.

The main conclusion we got from the short review is that the E-Class Estate is one of the most practical premium family cars you can buy, offering a gigantic amount of luggage space and a highly ergonomic and comfortable interior, with an engine lineup so vast there's something for everyone.
