In what doesn't seem as the most flattering review the baby CLS has received until now, the peeps from WhatCar? have managed to drive and give some opinion on the gorgeous CLA.
The strong points of the car, as seen by the Brits, are in tune with most of all the other reviews of the car out there.

In short, it looks like it could almost be in the same price range as the much more expensive Mercedes CLS, Audi A7 or BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo, but it's much, much cheaper.

However, its price, when put against similarly-sized cars, is no longer one of its high points when talking about the bigger engines.

Comparing, for example, the CLA 220 CDI with a somewhat similarly sized, engined and priced BMW 320d, WhatCar? says that the Bavarian might be a better alternative when it comes to offering a fun drive, a more comfortable ride and a classy interior.

The best buys, engine-wise, from the CLA line-up are the cheaper versions, which come with more than enough creature comforts and options to satisfy most customers.

In other words, the CLA 180 and 200 CDI are the best models to buy from what the Brits say, since the bigger-engined models also leave a bigger dent in your bank account, and spec-wise there would be much more competitors in the higher price range. We're not sure if the CLA 45 AMG would pose the same problems in WhatCar?'s view.
