With the first race of the season in the bag for Mercedes-AMG Petronas, as Nico Rosberg managed to score a composed victory at the Australian Grand Prix, the Anglo-German Formula 1 team is now more pumped up than ever for the second grand prix of 2014, to be disputed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Since the Sepang International Circuit is technically one of the three home races for the team, as their major sponsor is from Malaysia, both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg will probably be met by entire hordes of fans.

“We head to Malaysia looking forward to an exciting week: not just at the circuit, but off track as well with PETRONAS. This is the third time we have worked together to bring Formula One to the streets of Kuala Lumpur and it is a great opportunity to bring our Malaysian fans closer to their team. As one of our home races, we are extremely motivated to get a good result here.” said Toto Wolff, Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport.

“The first race in Australia left us with mixed emotions. Neither of our drivers put a foot wrong all weekend but unfortunately only one came away with the result he deserved. We know that reliability will be crucial to this long season and we have been working hard to improve the situation for the race in Malaysia. We made a solid start to the year in Melbourne, but we are very aware that not one percent of effort can be dropped if we are to remain competitive.” Wolff continued.

As the Sepang racing track is situated in a rather humid and warm area of the world, the reliability factor will probably be even more challenging for the electric systems fitted to the cars.

Even though Mercedes-AMG Petronas are once again clear favorites in terms of downright performance squeezed from the F1 W05 single seaters, both the reliability and the endurance of the power units and transmissions – now at their second race – will be crucial, so we're once again heading towards very exciting race.
