It seems that next year's Formula 1 Championship will be one of the most interesting to see in decades, with a host of changes so numerous you'll probably think that you're watching an entirely different form of motorsport.
With the last Mercedes-AMG V8 engine in Formula 1 being signed-off a few weeks ago, next year will bring a new turbocharged V6 paired with a KERS unit.
This is not the only novelty from the Brackley-based team, as they just announced two new additions to their technical organization, “particularly in the fields of simulation and vehicle dynamics.”
Mark Ellis will join Mercedes-AMG Petronas as Performance Director, while Giles Wood will take up the position of Chief Engineer, Simulation and Development.
Interestingly, both new engineers will start their work in Brackley from June 2014, as until that time they are still under their original contracts.
Since their original contracts are with RedBull Technology, it seems that Sebastian Vettel and Co. might have a slightly gloomier Christmas holiday, knowing that two of their best engineers will work for their main 2013 rivals from next year.
