With the modern Gullwing sadly going away in 2014, the peeps from Affalterbach aren't sitting still and they will soon unveil the AMG GT (C190).
By “soon” we are talking about something like six and a half months, as the new long-hooded sports cars might be unveiled at the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim on July 20, according to recent reports.
As some of you know, the AMG GT (C190) won't be a direct SLS AMG (C197) successor, as pretty much everything about the model will be diminutive compared with the modern Gullwing.
Its pricing, dimensions, weight and power will be under those of the SLS AMG, despite the C190's platform being inspired by the all-aluminium frame of the C197.
Using a newly-developed V8 that is based on bonding together two M133 four-cylinders from the A 45 , CLA 45 and the GLA 45 AMG, the new Mercedes-Benz sports car should develop around 485-500 hp in its “regular” guise, with the future bringing both a more powerful version and a base variant, which is said to sport a twin-turbo V6 based on the M276 DELA 30.
The pre-production prototype from the gallery bellow was caught during cold-weather testing near the Arctic Circle, in Lapland.
