Normally, we'd try to get you all excited about a car that's just been revealed, but there's no point because you're already excited. After all, it's not every day that Mercedes unveils a car like this.
It's the A45 AMG, the first in a new line of AMG car that use the compact yet extremely powerful 2-liter turbo engine producing no less than 360 HP and 450 Nm of torque (332 lb-ft). Yes, you head that right, it's got 360 European, pure-breed horses of power, or 180 horsepower per liter. That's more than some racing cars make.

The engine is connected to a new four-wheel drive system developed specifically for FWD cars like the A-, B- and CLA-Class. A new AMG SPEED SHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission with three driving programs, double-declutching function and Race Start takes care of the power delivery.

At the same time, the car is superbly efficient and clean, meeting EU6 standard. Combined fuel efficiency is an impressive 6.9 liters per 100 kilometers. That's better than you'd get from a Golf GTI (six-speed manual GTI does 7.3 l/100km), so presumably, it will be efficient even around town.

That's good, but not great. Fortunately, the A45 AMG does great very well. Official figures say that it will go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds and stop only when the electronic nannies intervene at 250 km/h (155 mph).

The A45 will be shown at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show next month and will enter production in April.
