German automaker Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new four-cylinder engine for the A-Class and B-Class range, which now will offer 90 HP-powered entry-level versions.
Called A160 CDI and B160 CDI respectively, the new variants will arrive with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder units under the hood that delivers power to the wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. Rated at 90 HP (66 kW), the engine will enable the A-Class to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 13.8 seconds, while the B-Class will need a total of 14 seconds. Both vehicles will reach a top speed of 180 km/h. The A160 CDI will have a starting price of €25,882.50 and the B160 will fetch at least €27,310.50.
Aside from the 1.5-liter engine, the B-Class can also be had in a new B220 4MATIC configuration. Connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder mill provides 184 HP (135 kW), a top speed of 225 km/h and a 0-100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds. Pricing for the B220 4MATIC starts at €33,230.75.
