By now, urban mobility is a way more evolved concept than anyone would have imagined a few years ago. EVs and PHEVs are leading the way for this initiative, but sometimes the simplest solution could be the best one.
Alright, time to calm down. BMW is not working on an electric M3 and the scooter you’re about to see has nothing to do with the petrol-powered mean machine from Munich we all love. This is an electric kick scooter we’re talking about, but you should also know that this toy is not suitable for children...
...unless you want to leave a $999 piece of equipment in the hands of 10-year-old kid, which is fine by us as long as parents can handle paying for the damages in case something goes wrong. We know that the EcoReco M3 might not be the single motorized kick scooter out there, but we kind of dig the design and the technology behind it.
"I believe our scooter is the best last mile personal electric vehicle on the market. It is economic, affordable, lightweight, portable, and safe with intuitive control mechanism. It's everything Segway wanted to be but fail to accomplish," said Jay Sung, EcoReco CEO and co-founder.
Thanks to a 250-watt electric motor built into the rear-wheel hub and a lithium-ion phosphate battery back placed under the aluminum deck, EcoReco M3 is able to run for about 20 miles (32 km) on a single charge. Furthermore, the battery can be recharged from fully drained level to 85% juiced-up in about two and a half hours, at a 120V household outlet.
Okay, we get it, all you want and need to know is the scooter’s top speed, rightt? EcoReco claims that the two-wheeled electric gizmo can reach 20 mph (32 km/h) but that won’t happen in crowded places, on pedestrian walks and sidewalks. For these tricky situations, the M3’s speed can be limited to just 7 mph (11 km/h). You also get a digital back-lit dashboard showing a battery meter, an odometer and a speedometer marked to 25 mph (40 km/h).
In other words, just shut up and take our money!
Below, you can find a full list with the scooter's specs:
