This Briefcase Has an Electric Scooter Inside You Can Use to Commute

Ever found yourself lost in a huge airport, minutes from being late to get to the right gate eventually and losing your plane? Maybe you haven’t, but we’re quite sure at some point you needed something small you could easily use to travel to work and carry some extra bags at the same time. California-based company Coolpeds claim they found something that covers exactly that.

In just a couple of words, we’re looking at an electric scooter built in a briefcase. You can both use it to store some of your belongings while it can also carry yourself for short distances. Powered by a quiet brushless motor hidden in its rear wheel, the entire package weighs 7.9kg (17.4 lbs) which is equivalent to the size of a standard carry-on case accepted by most airlines. Worst case scenario, you’ll need to pay some extra bucks for the luggage.

What would really come in handy is its ability to transform into a commuting two-wheel electric scooter that is capable of reaching speeds of up to 20 km/h (12 mph). The battery will power the peculiar vehicle for 10 km (6.2 miles) on a single charge and when it’s no longer needed for this purpose it simply switched back to a regular case you’d carry your luggage when you travel.

The company is still waiting for the patent to get approved, but according to its maker, the Briefcase Electric Scooter is priced at $599 for the standard model, while the special model with solar panels fitted will set you back with another $100.

We’re still not sure if this suitcase-scooter beats the Chinese home-made that even comes with a burglar alarm, but we’ll let you guys be the judge of that.
