While Woking engineers have been hard at work developing the 570S, McLaren’s marketing people haven’t been slouching either. After trolling Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce during last night’s launch event in New York, they have now released the delicious piece of 570S driving footage below.
Did we say “driving footage”? We meant to say “test driving footage”, as the clip shows McLaren’s drivers manhandling the company’s latest two-seater during the development process.
The video shows the 570S being manhandled in every possible scenario you could imagine. From maximum velocity and sideways moments on dry asphalt to endless drifting in the snow.
Our favourite part sees the Big Small Mac powersliding its way through a few corners in second gear, and this is where you can see just how sharp the tech side of the 570S is. Precision, as always with McLaren, is the best word to be used here.
While such extreme testing is only normal, we don’t get to see the process as often as we’d like, so these are probably the best-spent three minutes of the week.
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. Do not mistake the 570S for an entry-level entity or a sportscar. With stats such as 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds or 0-124 mph in 9.5 seconds, this machine goes straight into Lamborghini Huracan territory. The Brits have made a fetish out of overdoing the performace and this new model is no exception. In fact, we see the 570S as McLaren’s acceptance of the Grand Tourer concept.
