British manufacturer McLaren is recalling certain MP4-12C sportscars to inspect and fix windshield wipers that may not work properly.
The recall affects about 376 spider and coupe 12Cs built for the 2012, 2013 and 2014 model years. The concerned vehicles are sold in, or currently registered in, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas.
“Due to a combination of high ambient temperatures and humidity, the wiper motor brushes may jam causing the wiper motor to stop working. Non-functioning wipers during inclement weather may reduce the driver’s visibility, increasing the risk of a crash,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said in a statement.
The recall is scheduled to begin this month. McLaren dealers will replace wiper motors at no cost to the owners. Customers may contact McLaren at 1-646-429-8916 and the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
