McLaren Introducing Five New Cars Over the Next Five Years

We’ve all assisted to the re-birth of McLaren, with the company establishing itself as McLaren Automotive step by step and the development process still taking place.

The company used an “all details” marketing approach for the process, issuing press releases for every new detail, such as the appointment of a certain partner that would handle import and distribution in a country.

Now that the new company is up on its feet, it is preparing for the commercial launch of its first model, the MP4-12C, which is scheduled to take place in spring next year.

Now the company has released its future development plans, as autoguide reports. McLaren North America chief Tony Joseph told the aforementioned source that the automaker plans a total MP4-12C production of 4,500 units, adding that it will bring a new model to the market each year for the next five years. McLaren plans to sell 1,000 units of the supercar in the first year. As we previously reported, the company is expected to come with a successor for the F1 model in 2012.

The executive used principles like “substance over flesh” and “lower volume, higher standards” to describe the philosophy, emphasizing the fact that the company packs a ton of advanced engineering in each vehicles that comes out of its factory. He added that the connection to the F1 team is a key asset for the company.

Joseph said that the company’s marketing studies revealed the fact that its potential customers aren’t Ferrari or Mercedes owners, but people who have had the experience of owning a Porsche vehicle.
