Mazda Foundation Donates $150,000 to Help Japan

The disaster in Japan seems to have no end and this is why this is the perfect moment to demonstrate that the human race has evolved and is capable to stand united when nature becomes hostile. Multiple companies have made efforts to help the Japanese people, with one of the strong forces involved in this battle for support being the automotive industry. Mazda’s US arm recently announced that it has joined the list of automakers that are lending a hand to Japan.

"Mazda and its U.S. employees are deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of its Japanese colleagues, suppliers, employees and their families in the affected region of Japan," said Mazda Foundation Chairman Jim O'Sullivan. "We extend our thoughts and prayers to the people of Japan as they recover from this terrible tragedy."

The Mazda Foundation, which operates in the USA, will donate $150,000 to the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief Fund.

Here’s how the company describes its foundation: “Acting on a strong sense of responsibility to give something back to the communities in which it operates, Mazda established a philanthropic foundation. As the corporate foundation of Mazda North American Operations, it has awarded over $7 million to worthwhile causes across the United States since its initial grants in 1992.

We’ll use this occasion to remind you that you can also support the people of Japan. Of course, there are many ways of doing this, but we’d like to mention a simple one right now: we’re inviting you to check out the American National Red Cross’ “Help Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami Victims” Cause on Facebook.
