It's 2010 and we are already living the future, toy wise at least: The Hot Wheels’ creators, Mattel, now give us the world’s first folding RC car, as CNNMoney reports.
The toy is the size of a small mobile phone but unlike one, it uses only one button: once pushed, the flat weird thing turns into a remote control vehicle. To be more specific, the "Stealth Rides" comes in a plastic case which is also its remote control. At the press of a button it transforms into a perfectly capable remote controlled car. Kids, grab your roller shoes, one or more Stealth Rides and you’ll get a “perpetuum playable”.
“This is definitely one the coolest new toys in 2010," toy industry analyst and editor in chief of TimetoPlayMag.com Jim Silver told CNNMoney.
The Stealth Riders line-up comprises 5 models: two cars, two tanks and a “Batmobile Tumbler”. Mattel promises a record charging time which will offer a 30 minute “range”. Who needs plug-in hybrids and complicated power schemes?
The toys will have their world premiere in February at the New York toy fair with first deliveries scheduled for August, with a MSRP of $25.
We were expecting something this innovatory form Mattel after 40 years of playing with kids' and collectors' emotions but this doesn’t make the Stealth Riders a smaller surprise. What will they think of next?
