Massa Pesimistic About Abu Dhabi Return

Felipe Massa finally put an end to the rumors suggesting that he may be return to Formula One action at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Although it was in fact him who started the whole story – after insisting that his recovery programme is going great and he wants very badly to make the grid at the season finale – the 28-year old Brazilian now reckoned the chances of that happening are “very, very low.”

Waiting to get behind the wheel of a real Formula One car – the test in the Ferrari F2007 is scheduled for the upcoming week – Massa spent most of yesterday afternoon answering to fans on the Ferrari's official chat. With most of the messages focused on his medical state and return date, Massa set the record straight.

I hope that I'll be back soon, but I also know that the best thing is that I'm coming back 100 per cent at the start of the next season. My dream would be to race in Abu Dhabi, but the possibility is really, really low,” said Massa, according to the Ferrari official site.

The Brazilian, who underwent more than 12 hours of testing in the simulator through the last few days, confirmed that he will travel to Paris during the course of the weekend to undergo some further medical check at the FIA headquarters, after which he is scheduled to drive the 2-year old Ferrari on Monday.

Tomorrow I'll go to Paris for some medical check ups at the FIA and on Monday, if the weather is fine, I should finally be behind the wheel of a Formula 1 single-seater. I hope that I can do many miles and do well, not only in terms of performance but also as far as constant lap times are concerned,” added Massa.

The Ferrari F2007 testing session has already received the approval of the FIA, as in-season testing is currently banned by the ruling body in F1.
