Massa Expected to Return in 2010

The Brazilian was at the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit of the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami to undergo a thorough check at the hands of world famous IndyCar doctor Steve Olvey.

Although the medical check went very well and Massa's state seemed to have improved quite rapid, the Ferrari Scuderia doesn't expect the Brazilian to make a comeback this year.

"Obviously, the results of examination has been warmly welcomed in Maranello, in the sense that the team can count on Felipe 100% for the start of next season," said a Ferrari statement.

The Brazilian is expected to have a small metal plate inserted into his skull and then undergo plastic surgery within the next few days.

"I'm very happy with the outcome of the tests. After the small operation I'll undergo in the next few days, I'll finally be able to start doing gym exercise to get back in shape a bit and, after that, I'll be able to start doing some testing on karts," declared Massa.

The Brazilian rejected F1 training and said he prefers to take it step by step. "On track with an F1 car? Let's go one step at a time: now I'm focused only on starting over with physical activity, which is already a nice step forward," added the 28-year-old Brazillian.

Now Ferrari's next concern to solve is finding an apropriate replacement for Luca Badoer within the next 48 hours. Although lately talks have been pointing to Giancarlo Fisichella for a potential move to Ferrari, Dr. Vijay Mallya of Force India said he wasn't contacted by the Italian Scuderia yet and reports in the Italian media have also named Robert Kubica as a potential choice.
