Massa Confirms Kart Outing in November

Although initially scheduled to return to racing during a karting event in December, Brazilian driver Felipe Massa was confirmed to take part in a November round, also in his native Brazil. The Ferrari-an will compete in the popular kart race in Florianopolis from November 27 to 29, this being his first outing on a race track since his accident in the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Massa fractured his skull during the qualifying session of the Hungaroring weekend and is yet to become physically fit to step into a racing machinery. He is currently undergoing a training programme in Sao Paolo in order to return to racing as soon as possible.

“I'm going to take part again in the challenge of the stars, which is one of the most trendy end-of-year events. It's an incredible party, they get the best drivers together in all categories in the world: Formula 1, Formula Indy, stock car,” said Massa in a promotional video for the event.

Last week, some media reports in Brazil stated that Massa will return to kart racing in early December for the famous Brazilian Granja Viana endurance kart race in Sao Paulo. However, the Brazilian must have considered that the endurance race is probably more than he could take for a first outing and decided to switch to Florianopolis instead.

Massa has already secured his seat with Ferrari for the 2010 season, as announced by the company's CEO Luca di Montezemolo. The Ferrari-an admitted, 2 days ago, that “Massa's teammate next year will be either Finnish and Spaniard”, therefore confirming the Brazilian for 2010.
