Mark Webber Signs Red Bull Extension for 2010

Australian Mark Webber today confirmed that he will continue to drive for Red Bull Racing in 2010 also. The Grand Prix winner held a series of negotiations with Christian Horner during the past few weeks and today reached an agreement for a one-year extension.

Although it was believed the 32-year old will seek a long-time deal with the Milton Keynes based team, the two parties agreed to continue their collaboration only until the end of 2010. Both Horner and Webber were delighted to sign the papers, as Red Bull has now become the first team in the F1 paddock to have their 2010 drivers lineup confirmed.

I'm extremely happy that Red Bull and I have been able to agree to race together again next year. Even in the leaner and tougher years at the start of my relationship with the team, I've always enjoyed working with them, so now to go through this purple patch, which we hope will continue for a good while to come, makes the work even more enjoyable,” said Webber.

Although the team announced, earlier this year, that the RB6 for next season will be developed based on Sebastian Vettel's racing skills, Webber said he looks forward to helping the team set up a competitive package for 2010.

We've got a very exciting finish to this year's championship, but I'm also looking forward to helping to develop and race the RB6 in the 2010 world championship,” added the Australian.

I'm delighted that we have re-signed Mark for 2010. He has continued to show huge commitment and determination this season, especially following his bike accident at the end of last year. We believe that the driver line-up of Mark and Sebastian (Vettel) is one of the strongest in the sport,” added Red Bull's principal Christian Horner.
