Many of us have thought about paying a large amount of money in coins at a certain point in our lives. Some want to do it for sheer trolling purposes, while others use this as a payback. The latter applies to a man in Singapore, who recently paid $19,000 (EUR23,545 at current exchage rates) in coins to a car dealership.
The feat took place in Singapore, with Lester Ong having one of his employees deliver the coins to Exotic Motors after a dispute between him and the dealership regarding an Aston Martin. We know Astons are not exactly the most reliable cars out there, but this is ridiculous.

The coins, which weighed about 350 kg (772 lbs) were delivered after having been kept in a container used to store fish. The revenge came after a court ordered Ong to pay Exotic Motors a $11,000 debt and $8,000 in lawyer fees. It seems that the man owed the dealership money for repairs to an Aston Martin he had asked the company to resell for him, as well as road tax the dealer had paid for the Aston.

How it all began

The story started back in 2010, when Ong decided to trade in his Blue Aston Martin V8 Vantage for a Bentley Continental GT. Somewhere along the way, Exotic Motors told the owner they would need to perform some extra repairs on the car so that this would sell faster.

For instance, they asked to replaced the taillights, but the owner bragged that these had already been changed. Ong decided to accept, hoping this would indeed help with finding a new onwer for the car.

Nonetheless, the V8 Vantage remained in the dealership for one year and a half. The owner finally decided to have another dealership handle the car and claims the Aston was sold soon after that. Thus, the man considered Exotic Motors had tried to take advantage of him and refused to pay until he was legally forced to.

Let’s just hope the smelly coins story doesn’t escalate to money laundering...
