Magna Touchskin Renders All the Buttons in Your Car Useless

Magna’s Touchskin interface is the kind of technology which appears to be ‘from the future’ but its here, now and it works. The system is currently not used on any production car, but Magna have been trying to sell it to a mainstream manufacturer since last October.
The Touchskin panel does away with conventional buttons, switches and knobs, replacing them with a touch-sensitive panel which is self-repairing and it can also charge your phone through something called ‘Qi transmitters’, a system which apparently is available on the newest modern phones. The protuberance on the back of the panel works very similarly to a laptop touch pad, with the slight difference that it’s curved and therefore offers a new experience when using it for the first time (probably).

We hope to see the system integrated with the functions of a new car soon as we think it’s very futuristic-lookin, cool and we think it might actuallty work in the real world - we want it!
