Lucid is on a damage limitation mission. The American startup has just started the referral program, in which customers win points if they recommend the brand to someone else.
The program brings benefits to the existing customers and discounts to the new ones. Thus, the Lucid Air owners will receive access to unique referral links that they can share with potential buyers via the Lucid Owners Portal or soon in the Lucid mobile app.

If the respective link is used for the purchase of a new Lucid example, the one who recommended the brand gets points that can be used in the Lucid Rewards Store, accessed from the Owners Portal. Over there, they can purchase limited-edition products, vehicle accessories, and gear from the brand. The list includes Lucid Air crossbars, the Lucid Connected Home Charging Station, a car cover, all-weather floor mats, a bicycle, a kayak, or a ski & snowboard mount.

The points can also be used on various Lucid Experiences like tours of the company’s facilities in Silicon Valley and in Arizona, framed Lucid artwork, or lunch with the company’s executives.

For each Lucid Air Pure sold via the referral link, the existing owners will get 6,000 points. The number of points grows with the price of the car. The purchase of a Lucid Air Touring equals 8,000 points, while the purchase of a Lucid Air Grand Touring brings 10,000 points.

The owners of the Lucid Air Sapphire are eligible to receive a unique leather duffel bag if they refer someone who decides to buy a Lucid Air Sapphire as well.

There are discounts for those buying through the referral link. Potential buyers will get a $750 discount or lease rebate for the entry-level Air Pure, a $1,000 discount or lease rebate for the Air Touring, and a $1,250 discount or lease rebate on the Air Grand Touring.

Vice President of Sales and Service at Lucid, Zak Edson, claims that the company has a mission to inspire the adoption of sustainable mobility. But behind all the good intentions is Lucid's panic when it comes to sales figures. They only sold 50 cars in Q3, down by a huge 28.7 percent from the figures of the second quarter: 2,172 units.

Lucid is counting on the upcoming crossover, the Gravity, to boost sales, considering that it is more in line with what customers have been asking for for years. The model will be unveiled on November 16 at the Los Angeles Motor Show, as per the latest teaser that the company posted online last week. The model will inherit the powertrains of the Air sedan. The lineup will reportedly include the range-topping Sapphire trim with 1,234 horsepower.

Customers will be able to either buy the model or try a special 18-month lease. Prices are yet to be revealed.
