Lotus Evora Cup Race Car Unveiled Ahead of Geneva

British manufacturer Lotus released yesterday the details of the car which will enter the 2010 Evora Cup. The car will make its first appearance at Birmingham, on January the 14th, 2010. Designed by Lotus Motorsport, the car is eligible to compete in a number of different national and international series, including endurance and sprint racing.

The Evora Cup car comes equipped with a new 4l V6, which develops 400 hp. The engine, mid-mounted, is paired with a Cima six speed sequential paddle shift dog gearbox, designed for international motor sport.

To make it even more track worthy, the Evora received a Dallara aero package, complete with updated carbon fibre parts. The Evora is helped by the use of adjustable motor sport dampers and six piston front brake calipers, with two piece aluminium belled brake discs. Even more, the weight has been reduce by an amazing 200 kg, bringing it down to only 1,200 kg.

“Lotus has an enviable heritage of producing very competitive racing cars and we wish to continue this heritage with the Evora Cup race car. The company started by creating world beating racing cars and this is evident from the design of Lotus cars as the production cars have many racing car design features and perform exceptionally well on track,” Claudio Berro, Lotus Director of Motorsport said.

As said, the Evora detailed yesterday will enter the 2010 Evora Cup, an European competition with points initially awarded to competitors for entering races with the points values awarded relative to Evora finishing positions. There will be five points for attending any eligible national race meeting with five points awarded for the first Evora to finish down to one point for the fifth.

Further details of the car will be released by Lotus at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show in March.
