Despite taking a fair bit of criticism for turning one of the most avant-guard designs on the market and turning it back into more of regular saloon, Mercedes did manage to pull off a winner with the new generation CLS. As a result, it’s been target by a number of fabricators from the custom world.
About a year ago, even though the new CLS was awaiting its official market debut, Lorinser revealed a sketched photo that presents their plans for the next generation 4-door coupe. This time, the company has provided photos with the real thing, but continues to remain quite as far as mechanical details, if anything has been changed.
From a cosmetic point of view, Lorinser has added a more aggressive looking front bumper with larger air vents and incorporated LEDs, new side sills, a small boot lid and roof spoiler plus a redesigned rear bumper. The images also reveal two different sets of alloy wheels, which are also part of the cosmetic changes. One set is painted black an resembles the turbine design featured on the venerable McLaren SLR, while the other is a reinterpretation of normal Mercedes five-spoke configurations, but with a deeper lip.
At the back, we spot two sets of double exhausts, which might be responsible for adding a few extra horses. They look like the old E-Klasse aftermaker bits that Magnaflow used to make back in the 90s, so we’re not exactly impressed.
We’ll be back with more details once the tuner makes them available.
