Lorenzo Tops Second Test Day at Valencia

After a successful day by Ducati on the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, it was time for Yamaha to dominate the off-season testing at the Spanish track on Tuesday. Home rider Jorge Lorenzo topped the timing sheets of the second day of testing with the best time of 1:31.939, being the only driver in the MotoGP field to break the one minute and 32 seconds mark.

The Spaniard completed the most number of laps between the championship's big guns, as he took a while to get the grips with his new machinery for 2010.

Ducati's Casey Stoner managed to complete another incident-less testing day in Valencia and recorded the second best time of the afternoon, coming 0.256 seconds behind the Yamaha rider at the end. The overall podium was completed by (of course) Yamaha's Valentino Rossi, who missed the first hour or testing on Tuesday.

Yamaha Tech 3's Ben Spies continues to make a great impression in his first few outings in the series, as he scored the 4th fastest time during yesterday's testing. The North American rider spent 61 laps on the Ricardo Tormo track and eventually finished the day more than a second behind Lorenzo.

Nicky Hayden had another good day of testing with Ducati, even if he came almost 8 tenths of a second behind his teammate in the timing reports. Ducati nonetheless managed to maintain both its riders in the Top 5, while Honda's only managed 6th (Dani Pedrosa) and 12th (Andrea Dovizioso).

Randy de Puniet, Mika Kallio, Loris Capirossi and Marco Melandri completed the Top 10, while newcomers Hector Barbera, Marco Simoncelli, Alvaro Bautista and Hiroshi Aoyama again bottomed the timing reports, while still trying to get the grips with their MotoGP machineries.
