BMW kept its word and unveiled the new i8 at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, proving to the world that high-performance is possible with minimal fuel consumption.
The uber-sports car presented by BMW rose a lot of interest in everyone present at the event and, of course, a lot of photos were taken, some of which you'll find here, on our blog.
In person, the car looks a lot better than you'd think from the photos. The models on display came in 4 variants: White, Black, Grey and Blue.
Either way, all the cars have the same undergarments: CFRP body with BMW's eDrive module made out of aluminum and a lot of batteries. The car also marks a premiere in the world's auto industry being the first vehicle has all-wheel-drive, rear-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive.
The 362 HP number is made by a 231 HP 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine (another world premiere) and a 131 HP electric motor that powers the front wheels. The combine torque of the 2 adds up to 570 Nm of torque, 250 from the electric unit and 320 from the internal combustion one.
Prices start at $135,000 in the US, €126,000 in Germany and GBP99,000 in the UK, deliveries being expected somewhere in early 2014.
