Liuzzi Contract Difficult for HRT Seat

Vitantonio Liuzzi doesn't find himself in the best contractual situation in regards to his Formula 1 career. Even though he is very close to signing a deal with Hispania Racing F1 Team for the upcoming campaign, the Italian might have his hands tied due to his current obligations for Force India Mercedes.

Despite the fact that he was ousted from the Silverstone based squad for the 2011 campaign, Liuzzi is still under contract with Force India for the rest of this year. And while his management is seeking a compensation payment from Vijay Mallya's team, it is also in close contact with HRT F1 for a potential seat this season.

And here is where it gets tricky. In case Liuzzi does reach an agreement with HRT F1 for the 2011 campaign, his signing with the team might jeopardize his talks with Force India. In the other scenario, in which he is still looking for a compensation from the Indian-backed outfit, he might lose the HRT seat, as the new F1 season in one month away.

On the other hand, he might not get to secure a job with Hispania Racing F1 Team unless he gets some money out of Force India for his early contract termination. The Spanish squad has stated a number of times that it is now seeking a pay driver for the 2011 campaign, with its vacancy to cost around EUR10 million.

Liuzzi is not the only driver eyed by Hispania for the upcoming season, as the team is reportedly looking at their former reserve driver Christian Klien as a potential teammate for Narain Karthikeyan. The Austrian impressed the team late in 2010, when he replaced Sakon Yamamoto for the races in Singapore, Brazil and Abu Dhabi.
