Back in 1979 when the Gelandewagen came to life, nobody imagined the impact the offroader would have on the civilian world. Now that we're waiting for Mercedes-Benz to bring the first all-new generation of the G-Class since the original, anybody can see the popularity of the G Wagen and it's enough to check out the plethora of custom goodies destined to the terrain tamer to observe that.
As you can imagine, most goodies of the kind target the Mercedes-AMG G63 and the freshest piece of hardware destined to the twin-turbo V8 animal comes from IPE Exhaust.

The Taiwan-based developer has come up with an exhaust that amplifies the old-school growl of the 5.5-liter motor lurking under the hood.

Despite the tuning work we're discussing here taking place under the car, it's easy to notice the mod and that's because the double tips of the Affalterbach exhaust are replaced with triple units for the IPE unit.

In order to showcase its development, the specialist strapped the Mercedes-AMG G63 to a dyno and caught the whole shenanigan on camera.

The tuning bit we have here delivers three kinds of benefits, two of which are a bit ironical. The first involves an output bump and you'll get to see the numbers in the clip - keep in mind that the video provides the wheel output, while the official specs (563 hp and 760 Nm) talk about the crank output.

Then we have a noticeable boost in terms of the aural experience, but we have to keep in mind that the generation switch from the G55 to the G63 saw the exhaust growl of the machine getting slightly tamer to bring long distance trip coziness.

We must also mention the weight benefits brought by the stainless steel aftermarket exhaust, but since we're talked about a Gelandewagen, this aspect wasn't exactly a concern for the owners...
