Design-wise we haven’t seen any other compact sedan that looks as sexy as the 2014 Lexus IS and comparing it to the boring looking BMW 3 Series is pointless.
However, this comparison is more about the feeling you get from driving the car and its dynamics on the road, which Lexus claims theirs are better.
Junichi Furuyama was recently interviewed by CarAdvice and after driving both cars, he declared that the 2014 IS is more of a driver’s car than the 3 Series.
“The 3 Series has for a very long time had a lot of praise in this category – premium D segment. BMW is always top as a ‘fun to drive’ car… the ultimate driving machine. So they have a very good reputation, so of course 3 is a benchmark.” said Mr. Furuyama. “[But] I drove the [BMW] … the new 3 changes direction from ultimate driving machine to grand touring car… soft suspension and very much [body] roll compared to the previous one.”
He said that the IS is much more stiffer, having less body roll, which makes it much agile through the corners.
