Lexus took another important step forward today at the 2014 North American International Auto Show by officially unveiling its new performance coupe - the RC F.
The next iteration of the F Marque gets embodied by a new powerful, precise and filled with passion coupe. Based on the RC Concept unveiled last year, the RC F comes with its own version of the Lexus signature spindle grille dominating the bulged front end. The powerful side view is drawn by the slightly taller hood line, strong wheel arches and large side vents, while the rear is defined by L-shaped taillights, a redesigned bumper with integrated diffuser, quad stacked exhausts and a new active spoiler incorporated into the trunk lid. Moreover, an available carbon fiber package will add a clear coated carbon fiber roof and LFA-inspired active rear spoiler.

Lexus has not ended the engine’s benchmarking, so we’ll have to stick to what we knew before - a 5-liter V8 engine capable of more than 450 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. However, the automaker said something interesting about its newest and most powerful engine so far - it will be able to use the Atkinson cycle at cruising speed for enhanced fuel economy and then switch back to the Otto cycle at higher rpm to increase performance.

The new powerplant will be mated to a newly calibrated 8-speed Sports Direct Shift transmission and will get the power to the ground more efficiently through a Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD). Actually, it’s a first for Lexus to use a TVD to increase driving performance.

Check the new RC F debuting at NAIAS in the video and photos bellow.
