The crossover market is following an ascending trend and the latest carmaker to make a new step on this pathway is Lexus, which is reportedly considering a new entry-level crossover, which would compete against premium vehicles like the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes GLK.
Andy Pfeiffenberger, vice president of Lexus Europe, told Auto Express that the automotive producer has thought about this project in the past but the development has been pushed back. However, it seems that the company has changed its mind about developing what it calls a “downsized SUV” and wants to release such a vehicle “within the next few years”.

The executive didn’t offer too many details on the vehicle, but the aforementioned source writes that the vehicle, which will use a hybrid powertrain, will come with a starting price of around EUR30,000 (EUR40,000 at the current exchange rate).
