Lexus has presented the lightweight concept version of it’s IS F sport sedan at the Tokyo Auto Salon (this is a tuning-dedicated saloon), the IS F Circuit Club Sport (CCS).
The standard (if we can call it so) IS F is a soldier developed by the company to fight in the German Powerwars. It faces enemies like the BMW M3 or the Mercedes C 63 AMG and, although it's an awesome car, we think it doesn’t quite match the German rivals' dynamic level.
It seems that Lexus has finally realized that and has decided to release this concept, maybe to see if the public would be interested in a more focused animal.
We all know that the best way to improve overall performance is to lose weight. And that is exactly what the CCS has done. The car has been on a carbon fiber diet: the front winglets, hood, door sills, roof, rear diffuser and rear wing are all made out of this praised material.
On the tech side, Lexus has installed a new performance exhaust system, raising the 5.0 liter V8’s output form 416 HP to 428 HP. This is all the information available for the moment.
We are very curious to see how the new car performs. We would expect a pretty good improvement, something to make it (if it will ever be produced - something that doesn’t seem very likely) worthy of being displayed fender to fender with Lexus’ upcoming LF-A supercar.
We would advise Lexus to be extra careful when entering the track-orientated territory. Why? The number one reason would be the new incarnation of the BMW M3, the 190 kg lighter-than-standard, 450 hp, GTS (already production) version. There is also a curious visual coincidence between the two cars (have you been peeking Lexus?), as the M3 GTS is painted orange, with bare carbon fiber elements.
