First fitted on the Lexus GS model, the Dynamic Rear Steering system has been also tested on the new IS model in Japan and Australia seems to be very interested in offering one for the local market within two years.
At up to 80 km/h (50 mph), the Dynamic Rear Steering works by turning the rear wheels in the opposite direction to the front ones by up to two degrees, which reduced the turning circle of the IS by half a meter. Above 80, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels, increasing the turn-in response and chassis stability.

The rear-wheel steering “pack” also includes a faster steering rack and a recalibrated stability control system as well as selective braking and power management to balance the car.

According to CarAdvice, Lexus Australia is really thinking to adopt the DRS kit for the IS 350 F Sport, but it’s unlikely to be introduced before a model cycle revision, which isn’t expected for around two years.
