Russian body kit specialists Larte Design have been making their distinct grilles and bumper inserts for quite some time now, but we think you'll agree this is their most appealing work yet. Starting out with the largest luxury SUV in the Mercedes-Benz range, the GL-Class
, they crafted the "Black Crystal" look, which just screams aggression.
When changing the design
of an SUV
, some tuners try and make a sportscar, which completely ruins the usability of the vehicle. To show this isn't the case with their muscular GL, Larte took it on a little photo expedition, letting it discover its wild side with the help of an equestrian beast.
It seems the horse wasn't put of by the difference in… well, horsepower. You see, Larte also worked some magic on the engine. Using ECU
remapping software and a new quad-pipe exhaust system, it extracted 290 hp and 690 Nm (509 lb ft) of torque from the diesel V6 block of a GL 350 BlueTec
It's worth noting that this attention-grabbing body kit was inspired by the symmetry of crystals and includes new bumpers, edgy grille mesh, side skirts, inserts for the front and rear wings, a diffuser and a central F1-like LED brake light. 22-inch wheels with low profile tires look good, but must have made life hell in the offroad photo shoot.
