Land Rover chose the floors of the Brussels Motorshow to debut he new 2011 Defender X-Tech Limited Edition. The 4x4 comes in the Zermatt Silver exterior color, which is enhanced by Zermatt Silver.

The Defender sits for the first time ever on unique gloss black 16 inch Saw Tooth alloy wheels, that “create a sense of raw utilitarianism”. Inside the 4x4, the trim comes in Ebony and the seats offer the addition of leather side bolsters, crating a more refined finish.

Defender X-Tech is based on the 90 Hard Top Commercial model. There is also a full range of accessories also available to enhance capability and individuality of this Land Rover model. According to the manufacturer, the Defender X-Tech Limited Edition will go on sale from March 2011 starting at GBP 24,995 (€30,117).

The Defender 90 was revised back in 2010 and comes with a 2.4-liter common rail diesel engine with better torque over the previous Defender 90 engine. This oil-burner is paired to a manual six-speed gearbox, which provides a lower first gear ratio than the one in the previous generation, for better off-road control, and a high sixth gear for those rare times you will take your Defender on the highway. Interior improvements include a high-output heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system and full size forward facing second row seats.

The Defender will be phase out of production starting 2013, because of a global need for all vehicles to meet stricter safety and emission regulations. The current design is over 25 years old already and is now one of the most slow-evolving designs in the industry.
