Land Rover Sales Up in the UK

Good news from Land Rover, which at some point looked really affected by recession. During the October-December period, its UK sales have grown 93 percent year on year.

The main reason Land Rover sales have gone up is that the automaker has launched a new 2010 model range, so the cars benefit from a more advanced technology. Overall sales in 2009, however, were down 10.8 percent compared with 2008.

"2009 has been a very hard year for the motor industry – particularly in the premium segment. However, Land Rover made some tough decisions and restructured our business model to ensure that we were in a strong position to weather the storm. With our new 2010 model range launched to widespread acclaim, we are looking forward to building on our outstanding sales success in the last quarter, and to a brighter 2010,” Land Rover UK managing director, John Edwards, said.

The Freelander 2 model has had a price drop, so now the entry level car costs £19,495. In addition, the White & Black Special Editions became available. The car also provides good fuel consumption and low CO2 emissions.

Both the Discovery 4 and the Range Rover Sport are now powered by a brand new 3.0 liter TDV6 engine. For those who need more power, the Range Rover Sport also features a 5.0 liter Supercharged petrol engine.

The Range Rover, the company’s flagship, also benefits from more power thanks to the new 5.0 liter turbocharged engine.
