Judging by the number of Lamborghini Aventador fire cases that have been documented so far, we could say the machine sits below the supercar genre average. Still, yet this doesn’t mean we are not treated with roasted Aventadors from time to time.
This is precisely what took place over the weekend in the land of Lamborghini’s owner, Audi. An example of the Aventador caught fire on the Autobahn, near Stuttgart, Germany.
The Aventador was traveling on the A81 when fire emerged from the engine compartment. The flames engulfed three quarters of the car. The V12 machine thus burned to a crisp, with the only part that wasn’t affected being the front end.
This is where the whole story goes down the bizarre route, as the police report investigating the matter states the supercar was performing its first run after having gone though an engine change process.
The reason for which the Raging Bull had received a heart transplant was not mentioned and neither was the name of the service that performed the operation. Still, the report explains that the cause of the fire was an engine compartment overheating issue, with the whole matter being labeled as a technical failure.
As you can see from the adjacent images, the vehicle is a write-off. Fortunately, the 33-year old driver, along with his passenger managed to escape the incident without injuries.
Since we’re here, we’ll remind you the German Autobahn is currently the subject of a legislative debate, with the German Ministry of Transport having proposed a law that asks foreigners to pay for using the country’s highway network. Should this pass, the tolls will be introduced starting from next year.
