“It is quite an important race for myself as we are coming for the first time into the last race where I am fighting for quite an important position in the drivers' championship. It is not fighting for the win but third place is still quite good, so the approach will be to lose as few points as possible to Kimi and try to defend third position.”
“I think it will be a good prize for me (finishing in 3rd place), from a personal view. I am quite happy with what I achieved this season. After such a championship finishing fourth will be just a bit of a disappointment. I would prefer to finish third. My way of thinking is that second is the first loser but third will be good,” admitted Kubica ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The BMW driver is currently holding a 6-point advantage over Raikkonen on the battle for 3rd place and needs a 4th place to secure his position in the 2008 classification. Since the Fin will also be playing the lieutenant role to teammate Felipe Massa at Interlagos, it's quite possible that the Fin has little chances of clinching the win on Sunday.
Raikkonen is obviosuly enjoying a great return of form in the past few F1 weekends, as the Fin scored back to back podiums at Fuji and Shanghai. Kubica, on the other hand, has been complaining about his car's performances in China, where he failed to even make the Q3 on Saturday.
