Villeneuve: Kubica Should Win It

With everybody keeping their eyes on either Lewis Hamilton or Felipe Massa for the final two races of the season, there are a couple of world champions ruling for third place Robert Kubica also. After Fernando Alonso admitted that he would very much want his friend and poker mate Kubica to win the title, another former F1 champ stepped in to cheer for the 24-year old Pole.

When asked about who deserves the world title the most, Canadian Jacques Villeneuve named former BMW Sauber teammate Kubica.

“The one who really deserves it now is Kubica. He has not been in as good a car as either Felipe or Lewis yet he has produced a season without mistakes. It's exciting because three guys can win it and we thought there could only be two,” said the man who won the 1997 title for Williams Renault after a thrilling battle with Michael Schumacher.

Despite the 5-point advantage held by Hamilton in the overall classification – 12 ahead of Kubica – Villeneuve believes that the British driver will feel the pressure in the season finale and, unless he doesn't start focusing on his driving, he might lose it once again.

“This year he's got it in his hands with two races to go so we'll see how it pans out. He's been thrown in very young and been told for many years that he's the best in the world. At some point you end up believing that and I guess that happens to most drivers at some point in their careers.” added the former Williams driver, according to BBC Radio 5 Live.

Kubica did not start the Chinese Grand Prix too well, as he only managed a 5th and a 12th place in the practice sessions this morning. The qualifying session will get under way tomorrow, at 14.00 local time, with the race starting at 15.00 on Sunday.
